Pastor’s Blog

“Your computer has been infected by a virus.”  Fear, dread, panic…control, alt, delete” are our immediate reactions to that horrible warning.  Sometimes the infection is fatal – erasing major portions of data and corrupting system files.  Other times it is just annoying – costing us money and time to get rid of the “pesky bug”.  We wonder about why our anti-viral software didn’t catch and deal with the digital menace from cyberspace.  We question why people create these evil monsters that chew through our hard drives like “Pac-Man” on a mission!

Evil exists.  It invades our lives like a virus invades our bodies.  Its initial attack is fatal.  Original sin brought with it the death of our spirit and the eventual death of our bodies.  God, in His love, provided for us the ultimate Anti-Virus – the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.  In I John 3:8 it says this, “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”  (NIV)  And in Hebrews 2:14-15 we find these wonderful words of truth, “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death– that is, the devil– and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”  (NIV)

Read a question in a devotion this week,  “Have you ever been soul sick?”  Jesus is the cure and has the cure for those spiritual viruses that attack our lives everyday.  He is the “Anti-Virus”.  The Bible says in I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  (NIV)  Stop, pray, and run the “anti-virus” for your soul.

Hope this computes,

Pastor Dan
